I'm thinking about going to the Spring Mountian Z06 Driving School in Nevada for a 30th birthday present to myself, and to learn how to really drive my Z to its fullest potential.
Has anyone gone, and if so, what did you think about it...?

Was there last March and took the Level 1 and Level 2 courses back to back. You get alot of seat time and can really get to see what a stock Z can do. Dave and Victor do a good job. If you are going to learn to race it is not designed for that.

Be careful. I went 4 years ago and now I race 2 cars in SCCA races. Its addictive! That was the first time I drove a car hard, and I was hooked.

Best bang for your buck--most classes fill up, so call Traci ASAP

Default I'm going

My wife got me the 3 day level one school for xmas. She got both sides of family to donate to the cause in lieu of presents. Every guy should be so lucky as to have a wife like mine. I'm going the 1st week in April. Can't wait. I auto-x my Z all last season and learned alot and I have taken a half day instruction from VW so I'm looking forward to learning what the Z can do at slighly higher speeds. We're staying in Vegas even though they say not to do so, but that part is for her. I hope she can take some pics of me while driving and hope they do videos too. I've heard it's the best bang for the $ and even better since we use their Z's. OK, I'm done gushing now...

I agree. I took the Bragg Smith course last year for the 3 days and have been racing ever since. Just ran Willow Springs for the first time yesterday and was doing 130 in the straights and taking the curve at 100 exiting at 90, on street tires. I know that had I not had the teachings of Dave and Vic and the seat time, I never would have had the confidence to do this. You will truly learn what your car can do and will gain the confidence to do it. Just get ready to buy an extra set of wheels and tires for racing!!!!

Be careful going back and forth as the police like to watch that road especially for pumped up drivers come out of the school.

i'll second the be careful on the road between Las Vegas and Pahrump. specifically through Spring Mountain Pass. it looks to be a fun twisting road, but they do watch it quite closely.

Just caught the 15min. segment on Spring Mountain on the FLM channel. Looks like fun and now I have to convince the Ms. to come down in Feb. for the 2 day event, knowing we're turning right around in three weeks to make the run to Primm, NV with the Bakersfield club.

Thanks to you all for all the posts, and to Dave for offering the certificate. I came home from work today to find out that my hubby (God bless him) signed me up for Feb. 14-16 class for my 30th B-Day on the 19th. He's just covered the Valentine's day present too. Wish me luck, and look out for me when I get back!!
Thanks Again!
