I put on slotted and cross-drilled rotors awhile ago and reused the stock pads to season the rotors. I planned to put ceramics on because of the stock pad dusting, but I've heard stories about ceramic's poor stopping ability. Now, I'm hesitant to use them.
I've been trying to pay attention to the posts of Evil Twin who IMHO seems to know a great deal on this subject He doesn't like the ceramics because of discoleration on the rotors, so he uses OEMs with the soft compound. If you have seen pictures of his rotors ... Sweet! That's the direction I plan to go. Just my .02

I installed drilled/slotted rotors last spring, along with Ceramics, and so far, after about 10K miles, no discoloration of the rotor. However, a lot less brake dust, and the dust that is present, is gray and not as noticeable.
DO we need to order these or can we get them at Autozone or a place like that?
I believe PEP BOYS sells the ceramics. They run about the same price as Hawk Brake pads, which by the way is another good alternative you may want to look at.

These can be purchased at most auto stores.
As for the poor stopping ability...not true!! They just don't fare as well if your going to be doing alot of hard braking. I also have drilled/ slotted rotors...after a day of road racing (on a track)...my rotors turned a bluish color, and my brakes were fading, all by the end of the course, after a few hot laps...hard driving.
After a day of regular driving, my rotors look shiney and new again.

HP-JNKIE,
Nice ride, love the wheels.
As far as brake pads go I was going to go ceramic as well but have since changed my mind. I am not a brake expert but I believe you give up a little to get less dust. Good luck with your decision.

Mike,
Why don't you start a new thread with that topic. It's bound to get a lot of input. I'd like to know more about Hawk pads myself. Just a suggestion.
