i dont know about being illegal.not sure..i have them on my lemans blue coupe...love the way they look...it's not like they hinder the ability 2 see the rear lights during the day..especially with the sun being out and all.....@ night i can't much tell they're on cuz the lights are on anyway..

Law states that red lights must show 500 feet behind your vehicle. Get your blackouts from CF member gst20psi and you will be fine. That's where I got mine. I have been pulled over for other nonsense (typical racial profiling cr@p) but never for blackouts.
It is not so much that they are legal or illegal but if they give a COP who is already mad at you an excuse to write you up for something else. A COP could always write you up for them and then it would be up to you to sort it out in court.
I have been trying to decide what I want to do about blacking out the DRL's / Turn Signals for several months now.
In the photo above, the DRL's are ON but very hard to see. On many occasions, other drivers have waved to me thinking that I was not signaling a turn because in daylight, the turn signals are almost impossible to see. Did I mention that these drivers only used one finger when they waved to me.
I have increased the amount of black paint in the upper vent in the photo below but I am not sure yet how I am going to handle the visibility problem with the black out plastic.
I have seen blackouts advertised that are held on by static electricity and I am guessing that they would let more light through. One thought I have is to cut the plastic away over the DRL's and then try the static cling stuff over the DRL's and under the plastic ones.
I still don't know what to do, but being seen by other drivers with the DRL's on and knowing that my turn signals can be seen if very important to me.
Maybe I'm lucky-I've had blackouts on all the way around for two years. Also no front plate, modified exhaust(Andy's mod), wrong size tires(oversize), lowered, and modified intake. I have not been stopped for any of these and when I have been stopped-nothing was said about them.

Same here.
Plus I haven't run a front plate on any car I have owned for the 6 years I have been in the States.

damn those black out kits look stealthy and sinister... to those of you who have em on. I was thinking about the carbon fiber black outs but the originals give it a darker feel...which i like.
so having em on in the front practically makes DRLs useless?
