Well, I was told that dropping the tanks would be the only way to get rid of all the contaminated gas. If anyone on here knows of a different / less costly method, I'd love to hear it.
The Carfax report was clean. Guess I've just had some bad luck.
From: "It's 106 miles to Chicago, we've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark, and

The first few months of your ownership sucked, no doubt. But you got a lot of the typical issues (except for this bad gas fiasco) out of the way - making way for you to really start enjoying the car.
The only other advice I can offer to you is to make damn sure you replace the fuel filters when you finish, what ever solution you choose.
Welcome to the forum - the only thing free about Corvette ownership is the advice you'll get here...we'll get ya' through it!
Congratulations on your Corvette purchase and sorry you are having so many problems at once!! In time it will pass and you will forget about it. I agree with the comments so far, these problems most of have had in our ownership. I too will recommend that you find a second opinion on a good dealer. If you find this dealer (and there are some), you will move to the head of the line by making friends with the service advisor, preferably with one who owns a Corvette. I did this and I tip him occasionally. This pays big dividends in him taking care of you and your car. You mentioned it took days to get the tranny leak sealed! Not acceptable for most of us who like to keep our car in sight most of the time. Had mine fixed while I waited, oil change and front end aligned in less than 4 hours. That was 3000 miles ago and it has not leaked since. Hang in there.....you own an exciting car!!
Has anyone else run into this issue with bad gas causing problems? I'm would assume that the gas company, Shell in this case, would be liable. My insurance company is set to take a look at it today, but even if they do cut a check for it, I'll be out the deductible.
You don't say where you're from, but in May '04 I was in New Orleans and the radio news had a story where Shell gas had been sold with a very high sulfur content in the area. You might want to check with Shell ... never hurts.

I was having a problem with my gas gauge also. Had been using Chevron gas. The head mechanic at West Coast Corvettes suggested using Mobil gas. I have had no problems with the fuel gauge since. I believe Shell gas was having a problem with the amount of Sulfur in the gas and the sulfur was affecting the fuel gauge sensor. Hope this helps.
I feel your pain.
Bought my first Vette in 04. Within a very short time I had the column lock problem in a parking garage. Couldn't get a tow truck in the garage during the day. Same evening I went on the forum and some members gave me some advice on how to unlock. Great advice and it worked. I then drove to the dealership to have the recall work done. While at the dealers someone backed into the Vette.
Not long after that I got a nail through the sidewall of a rear tire and found out just how expensive Vette tires are.
Bottom line, I'm driving a Vette and life is good.
Sorry to hear about your problems. At least they should be out of the way now.
Mine had only 100 miles on it when I got "Gas Gage" problem, stealer probably filled it with cheap gas, it will get Chevron from now on.
Although mine is in storage with less than 300 miles on it now, I will return to the US soon and drive it. This Forum is a great wealth of knowledge, and I am now prepared to deal with the "common" problems they all seem to have.
