Anyone stored their car in real winter temperature(Toronto) without using stabil or any other gas treatment. I'ts now -20 Celcius and I'm worried about my gas turning to sh#t. Tell me someone hasn't used anything and everything was OK.
Please!
I always use Stabil for my car.
If you forgot to add it, simply add it to the tank and run it until its near operating temperature (10 - 15 min.) it should be okay.
I live in Alberta, and if you've seen the news lately it dropped to -42 C (-43.6 F)a couple of weeks ago.
When I lived in Montreal I never used anything. But the car was in a garage all winter. And I never had any problems. I don't even think they had anything back then like Stabil. If your outside and covered up I think you may have a problem. Keep your fingers crossed when you start it up in the spring.
Shouldn't be a problem. The Petroleum Institute says gas is good for a year before there is a problem, but why risk it. A coupla bucks for some peace of mind. Well, maybe $2.30 Canadian. Heck, I don't know.

It costs less than 5 bucks for a bottle. If you are going to store the car for the winter it is best just to add it to the tank and let the car run for a little to get the Stabil into both fuel tanks.
Not in my 'vette but I hate to admit that I forgot to put this in the GTO last winter. Come spring, it started right up and ran with out problems. Of course this is on a carb, not fuel injection so that might make some difference. The injectors may be more sensitive to older fuel. FWIW, I always add now. It's cheap and worth the peace of mind if nothing else.

I have had problems with gas going bad quickly (six weeks) in cold weather on my motorcycles (carbs not FI). Being good for a year . . . NO way can I buy that propaganda.

Just add a bottle now - you should be OK. I put it in mine even though I may get it out on occasion and drive it a bit. Good protection for the fuel system.
For those to busy to go find the stuff in the store, you can get AMSOIL Stabilizer shipped to your door via the AMSOIL link to the left under the fuel additives link.
Gasoline Stabilizer
Reduces the oxidation process that occurs when fuel is stored for extended periods. Prevents the formation of varnish and sludge which can clog injectors, stick floats and cause poor engine performance. Ideal for stored seasonal equipment such as snowmobiles, lawnmowers and boats.
Treat rate is one ounce with every 2.5 gallons of fuel. One bottle treats 40 gallons.
Live in Miichigan didnt put stabil in my motorcycle and had carb issues in the spring from the gas but motorcycle sat longer then the vette and holds far less gas. Not to late to add it now . Start your vette on the next nice day add the stabil run to the corner gas station top off the tank and you will be fine till spring.

Never leave your tank half full when storing the car. Condensation can accumulate and sink to the bottom of the tank. Water is not a good ingredient in the fuel system
