2002 C5 Coupe
24K miles on the dash after driving it 300 miles home
Clean title, no wrecks
Bone stock except the A&A supercharger on the car
$19.5K!!
Let me know what you guys think the car is worth. It is spotless and has been paint corrected and ceramic coated recently with extensive records since the car's inception.
Hey guys, my name is Evan and I'm looking forward to getting involved in this forum. I previously owned a manual C7 (hence the username( let me know if there is a way I can change it )) but I never did much to the car or was involved in the corvette community. I am very mechanically inclined and am looking forward to doing a cam as well as valvetrain upgrades and potentially a smaller pulley for the P-1SC to push 8psi instead 6psi. I am sure I will have lots of questions regarding this car in the future, but I am not sure this is the place to do it.
Stock exhaust! Blower Blasphemy! Nice car. Did the previous owner do any other mods? Cams or heads? If it is all stock bottom, you are looking at a reliable 500 to the wheels. Have fun and DRIVE IT-
$20K-22K is around what it is worth more due to the miles than the SC.
SC generally do not add value. But good documentation does.
Either way this is a well bought car.
I watched a 30K mile SC convertible sit unsold for a year and they started out at $28K. It vanished once it got to $22K about what a normal convertible goes for in this area with similar miles.
Drive it and enjoy it as it is a very nice car and I would say it was not abused if it still has the stock exhaust.
Good deal. Congrats. I know that some people say that the SC doesn't add any value, but IMO a $6k worth of parts + install and tune adds value IMO. I see a nice DeWitts radiator as well. Enjoy 😎
Many cars that are modded have been run hard and abused. Unless you know the car you have no idea how it was treated,
Better to buy stock and do your own mods so you know what you have.
But in your case you said it was #1 Documented. #2 you have low miles. and the lack of other mods appear that this car was not likely abused. You should be ok but so few cars are done this way. I get calls all the time from new owners trying to find out what the car they bought has in it.
Now if you do any mods to it you should document what was done. The receipts and part numbers. If you pay someone to do the work add their info and if you do it yourself add photos. This will protract your investment.
Undocumented who knows what you are getting. There is a third of the people out there that should not even be changing their own oil let alone modifying a car. I have seen the messes.
As an owner of an A&A supercharged C5, I think you got a good deal for that mileage and overall condition of the car, especially if you have the build documents. I see a DeWitts aluminum radiator as well which is a great addition for a supercharged, heat-inducing performance modification. I also agree that you should install a good, aftermarket mid-pipe and axle back system, like Corsa, Borla, etc. to allow that supercharger to exhale better. Plus, it will sound a lot better!
Welcome to the C5 forum. That looks like a phenomenal buy! I've had an A&A kit on my car for many years. The first piece of advice I have for you is to ditch the A/S tires. The A&A kits usually put you around 500 HP at the wheels. You're going to want a good set of max performance summer tires. I'm currently running Continental Extreme contact sport 2 tires.
You may want to consider some C6 Z06 shocks as well as upgraded sway bars. I'm not sure what your driving habits are, but if you plan on actually driving the car hard, you'll want to consider upgrading your brake pads. Stock pads are fine for normal street driving, but they heat soak quickly if you pull to triple digit speeds and then break hard down to 20-30 mph.
I know that my A&A kit ended up causing an oil leak due to the increased pressure. I added a catch can to act as a breather. Mine is a mighty mouse with a custom mounting bracket. You may or may not find that you need something like this. Keep an eye on it.
Looks like a helluva deal to me, Evan. If I ever modify my car's drivetrain, I'm going the same route: s/c, stock cam, no headers. 500whp is plenty for me.
I think you got a good deal on that C5. Just FYI that's probably a Procharger kit with some A&A parts mixed in. That is their brand of SC bracket and headunit/pulley. The plastic tube going up to the MAF and throttle body is procharger brand and the worm style hose clamps. I do see the A&A inlet duct, top shroud, and upper radiator brackets. Check to see if it has the two split-intercooler design, or if they went A&A on the tubing and ram-air intercooler.

I believe A&A superchargers are made by Vortech. However, they're the same thing as Procharger. It shouldn't really make that big of a difference. Here's a pic of mine with the catch can I mentioned earlier for reference.

I'm with ya . No other mods except SC except a radiator fan and a pioneer headunit. I'll definitely be looking out for a set of headers because the car could definitely wake up a little more under load 😎.

Thanks for the advice! I will definitely be doing some work to the car, and I would love to inspire buyer confidence when the sad day comes to sell the car.

I don't happen to have the build docs unfortnately, but I just changed the oil today and there was no flake in the filter at 5k miles so I guess whoever installed and tuned it didn't fudge it up too badly. Man, the supercharger oil smells exactly like manure. Can't wait to put an exhaust on this car . Thanks for the welcome!

All in all, you got a beautiful car. Have fun!
I'm with you on the tires, I've always been a PS4 type of guy as they treat me well (not too much cold weather in TX).
I've definitely noticed the suspension is too soft for my liking, the car will scrape during hooning on certain bumpy roads and the A&A intercooler pipes have low ground clearance. I've lowered every other car ive owned and I'd love to lower this one except I just don't see how I could do it without switching to coilovers so I don't scrape the car during driving due to the soft suspension. Wonder how much the c6 z06 shocks stiffen the car, I'm one for spirited driving and the car could use some love in the corners right about now.
I think I'll cam soon while doing my harmonic balancer, so I'll replace out any gaskets I can easily access during the job. Huge fan of oil catch cans, will definitely be looking to pick one up.
AND it's a stick. Enjoy it! That's a great combination there.
Mods:
1st make sure it is safe.... good tires, fresh fluids all around.
If you don't know who tuned it, I highly recommend you let us know and we can recommend someone in your region who is trusted and will help keep the car alive and happy.
Other than that.... the biggest character changes to these cars are a shifter, good brake pads, pick your poison for inexpensive suspension upgrade, and when the tires go... something in the 200tw range. By then you'll want to ditch the factory seats for something better like C7 or A4s. That combo as simple as it is puts you in an amazingly strong handling car. Goes, stops, holds a decent line. Fun all day!

I like to think of it as protecting my investment.
The act of modification is not the problem it is the lack of information that hurts values.
But even on stock cars the value of the car can be increased with good documentation just keeping the service records.
My 911 I have two note books of documented care and service. Even with high miles Porsche people value these and with a good compression test and oil pressure reading with no rust a car well over 100K miles can still pull $79K. Just saw one the other day with 105K miles and sold for almost 80K. It needed interior work and the paint was stone chipped but clean California body and a engine still running like new documented added value. I feel too many Corvette people leave money on the table with some good high mile cars because there are no records of care. Knowing what was done when removes fear.
The LS and C5 should out last most 911 just on rust alone let alone the engine is just as good as the flat 6.
