Yeah, still waiting on my helper. Hard to find good help these days it seems. 😄 If I don't hear from him tomorrow I'll give him a call. I do have other options too so maybe that will have to happen. And yes, still doing some mods. Tomorrow will be brake fluid change and then I'll get it outside and see how the wheels look in the sun, if it's out that is. I am getting a bit impatient too. I want that hood on 2 days ago. I have a show Saturday and would really love to have that on it by then.
Got some more work done on Grape yesterday. Got it on the ground finally for the last time this spring now to enjoy for a month or so. When the wife has her other knee done, I'll be storing it again for a few months while I tend to her needs 24/7. Was suppose to go to a show today but it was only 32 degrees when I woke up and I said self, I'm not sitting outside and freeze what left I have of my nuts off. So I stayed home and will work on some videos I've been neglecting and need to finish up for whoever follows my youtube channel. I did get a few up already though. I may go out to the garage and play some more too. But the car is sitting on its own weight and looks pretty good. Not sure about the wheel color I chose yet, but maybe I will change my mind the more I look at it.
What do you all think? Be honest too. You like the powder coating silver? Or go chrome or go home?
I also posted this video in another thread. But I changed my oil pan drain plug without losing 1 drop of oil. Worked like a charm. Pretty happy about that.
The wheels look great from here Mark, but you have to be 100% happy with them. Seems like you miss the chrome finish. Looking forward to seeing Grape with the MCM hood installed.
32 degrees I don't miss cold weather.
Mike
I'm pretty sure I'll be going back to the chrome wheels too. But it will have to wait until fall again before I can do anything about it. It will be like it is now for the summer. Another but.....if I find a set of 18, 19 wheels that are chrome before fall that I absolutely love, then maybe I'll be going that route instead of getting these wheels rechromed again. I don't want to spend a fortune on new wheels either. I'll be saving my pennies and see how it plays out.
The new hood ought to balance well with the spoiler.
Chrome for me on a non chrome era sports car detracts meaningfully from the look. Unless you're riding on bags with a remote outside the car. Or maybe that is just how things seem from my northeastern background.
Polished billet has the right look as well as the right brightness / white light.
My daughter found this old paper ad from back in the day at my parents house a few weeks ago. I bought a green frame for it since it's Sinclair related. My grandpa bought the place back in 1955. My dad and his brother started off running the place. Then his brother went and ran another business my grandpa had a little later and my dad took the station over permanently for himself. Almost to the day in July of 1993 it closed for good. Sad day for us for sure. Pretty cool to find this too. I didn't know it existed. It will be going on my wall someplace.
