I seriously doubt it was swept under the rug. I suspect the link is no longer accessible because there was just WAY too much info about this guy in the thread, such as account and routing info, that has legal implications for the forum if they leave it up for all to see. My experience over the last seven years or so is that the mods don't delete, lock or make a thread inaccessible unless there is a seriously good reason. Taking a thread out because it deals with a sensitive issue that is being handled according to forum rules is NOT one of those reasons, even if it involves a supporting vendor or member. There too many other implications and potential problems for a mod to even be thought of showing favoritism in that way.

HE is not being protected. The FORUM is being protected because HE did not, in fact, surrender any privacy rights. HE did not post his full name, address, bank account number and routing information. Someone else did. That has legal implications for the FORUM if they leave it accessible. The mods are just doing their job.

Charlie I agree with some of your points. I think they should have done like the other forums have in the past with this guy. Remove the bank account information and thats all.
The member provided his name and address willing in many other threads - both on this forum and others.
Making his name known as a scam artist is not a violation of his privacy rights. Posting a phone number, address, and screename that he WILLINGLY posted in previous threads is legal.
I say reopen the thread so others that google his username, email address, or name will be provided that VERY informative post that moderators decided to close, archive, and remove.

Good points. I missed the thread on this forum where he voluntarily listed the information mentioned. Sorry. :o
Contact the mods about reopening the thread. It's their decision alone.

The mods shouldn't have closed/locked it, but just take the personal stuff out of it and make it a sticky for all to see and possibly to ward off some future predators!

Great detective work! If somebody has not already reported this fellow to the appropriate law enforcement agency, please do so. The only way to stop them is to put them in jail.

The guys original ad is now a sticky at the top of the for sale forum.
Chances of the guy coming back are probably zero now, so there's no purpose to keep that discussion going.

I want to know the relsults as well. Many forum members have been followng this, now it has become a big waste of time. Another example of protecting the criminal. There was no laws broken, open the thread.

I moved the thread to the boneyard so that the admins could review it. They stuck the thread as both a warning to the scammers and as am example on how to report the scammers.
