I have a 1999 c5. I am getting check lights for ABS and traction control. The dealer tells me I need an electronic brake control module. GM no longer makes the part. Any ideas or help. Thanks

they're on ebay every now and then -- but be careful, unless they gurantee that it's working, checked, tested, I wouldn't buy it. 99-2000 units can't be fixed.
Once in a while you'll see one in here. get the checkbook ready, starting price for this part starts at around $1,000.

There has been a ton of discussion on this part for a long time. There have even been some guys who said they were successful in repairing the unit themselves. There are a lot of threads to look through. GL with this item. I've got a 98 so its possible I could be SOL myself. Study up on this part and see what you can find. I think I might even remember a member who replaced his with a newer unit but it took a lot of work and re-wiring, and I might be mistaken on this. Good Luck.

Your best bet is to have it repaired. MidAmerica wants $389 plus 6-8 week wait. I found a company in Canada that I overnighted to and they repaired and returned the day they received it for less than $300.
ModEx I think was the name of the company located in Ottowa.
I was very pleased and had my car back on the road in less than a week

You'll need to look at your part and see what letter is on it. There are "M" code, "V" code, etc...and yes, they're quite expensive, with some low mileage or harder to find units now pushing $2000.

I had the ABS and traction control lights go on in my 2000 C5, and it turned out to be a bad wheel speed sensor.
Once that was replaced, the lights went off and stayed off.
There are a variety of different things that can trigger those lights to go on besides what occurred with mine, so let a good shop go through your car first before you jump on a used ECBM that may or may not work much less cure your issue.
