I've probably screwed up big time here but we will see. I removed my throttlebody to have it polished to better match the polished supercharger. After removing it I decided to be safe than sorry and removed the TPS because I did not want the polisher to break it off on a polishing wheel. Should have probably figured this was a bad idea when I noticed the special screws that attach it to the housing. But looking at it closely, it can only go on one way and there is no adjustment so off it came.
Long story short, put everything back on, started the car and now when it warms up it wont idle right. After driving a few miles when I come to a stop, the rpm's stay around 1200 to 1800 for about 15 to 20 seconds and then they slowly drop to normal, 700 to 800 rpm's. I think by removing the TPS I've negatively affected my whole tune.
I am not throwing any codes but I can definately tell something is a miss.
Anyone care to voice their opinions or experiences, anyone else removed the TPS and put it back on? The shop manual says the TPS is not a replaceable item and must be replaced as a unit with the throttlebody.
I have replaced the tp sensor on my 98 and had no troubles. You are correct in that there are no adjustments. Seeing that youhad the entire tb off the car and high/erratic idle concerns I would check for any vacuum leaks, cracked lines or maybe disconnected ones. Make sure the pcv valve is plugged in too.

don't stay focused on the TP sensor... as the actual problem may be elsewhere.
Same thing happened to me when I took the TB off just to polish it up a bit (while installing new bridge, etc.).
I didn't remove the TPS but have the same symptoms. So it's probably not the TPS, but maybe a good cleaning will help? I've triple checked everything else and haven't figured it out yet.
Perhaps it just needs to re-learn the idle? I tried a Shaner TB and the idle was much higher and erratic.
All of the post have good advise. I've seen this several times. Just disconnect your battery for 24hrs and then reconnect. Let the car idle for 20 minutes with no accessories running. It should relearn the correct idle position if all other parts & hoses are OK and connected correctly.
