Tune after headers
I'm considering long tube headers with high flow cats and x-pipe. I have Borla cat backs. I don't want any check engine lamps and obviously want to maximize the hp gain. What should a tune cost? I can do the other work myself.

Depends on how much you want shanged. You can get a base line tune for the mods and you might not see much a change for the $150-200. If you get a full blown tune with WB AF on a dyno and all the LSedit tweeks can cost up to $400. I got my car tuned @ Carolina Auto Masters (see sig) Durham. Jeff is awesome and realy knows his stuff and he cares.
Figure on about 10RWHP/TQ with the tune over headers, cats, cat back with out a tune. The big change will be in below WOT, and the torq that can be gained. The small tweeks like CAGS can be removed too. Hope this helps and stingers sound even better with headers!
