Default Need Input

Hi guys,

Need input from tuning gurus, here is the background. Just got the car back fron Installing Vararam, Kooks LTs,Xpipe,High Flow Cats,Z Catback ,3600 converter & 3.42 rears.

No codes/issues from Converter. Also I input the new rear in Hp & it auto scaled shift tables accordingly. I did some other changes as well , Reduced Tranny TM, lowered fans , Copied Main Octane to Low Octane , Firmed up shifts a bit , Deleted Engine TM , shift times lowered to .200 , WOT % TPS changed , COT disabled , Max enige TQ changed .

Car was running a-ok. Did a scan and found as expected that my LTFTs & STFTs were way off. Zero Knock Retard .

So after a lot of research , I put the car in SD mode ( MAF fail = 0 , NO MIL for MAF Codes 101,102 & 103 ). Then scanned after a RESET . Trims came down but needed a bit fine tuning. So I Tweak the VE table using the following formula :
LTFT + STFT = Total Change .
New VE value = Existing Value + ( Total Change / 2 )

I upload the same , reset the fuel trims . 100 miles later ... ( and after my new rear break in ) I do a scan . For reference , Scan parameters are min cell count 10.

Results :
All LTFT values logged are within +-4% EXCEPT one where the result is +6 ( Cell 2.0/30) Count was 136.
All STFT values logged are within +1to-3% .
ONE degree of Knock Retard in the following Low load cells :
2.0/.60 15 count , 2.2/.52 5 count , 2.2/.56 3 count , 2.2/.60 5 count .

Car did not go into PE since max rpm was 3.2. Also I have set up my PE TPS to start at 80% hence I know for sure.

My questions are as follows :

1- Should I further tweak my VE table to get that ONE cell down into the ideal +-4% range ?
2- Should I reduce timing in the cells I got KR or it is not required for one degree in low load cells ?
3- Given the good state the car is currently running is SD mode , would you suggest I re-enable the MAF ?

P.S. The VE tuning via Narrow band is only temporary to ensure the car is running ok. I will get my wideband hooked up soon then will tune the same via AFR error & also MAF error ( if I choose to reenable the MAF ).

Let me hear what you guys think

I forgot to mention , for LTFTs & STFTs I am taking the average value.

If your goal is to practice your tuning skills and get more comfortable, sure, that's time that's not really wasted. If you're actually trying to improve your tune instead, then no since you're about to start over when you get your WB rig set up. My position is always keep the MAF unless you have an obvious reason for dumping it.

Hold off until you get your WB installed. Make sure you buy a good one with RPM and datalogging.

Nah, get something simple (like an LC-1) that integrates with the data collection rig you already have.
