I'm currently thinking about buying a scanner for the car, but I also want it to read other sensors like, steering wheel sensors and other voltages that are not part of your 'general PIDs'. The Actron cp9145 was recently purchased, but this wont do it becuase it'll just read the first 'general' PIDs.
I actually made one a few years back, but forgot how to use it, and the guy that originally helped me with the 'byte banging' isn't there anymore. Anyone have the hs3000 cookbook?
$99 and it did work great for me with the free software packages on every OBD2 type I tried, Chevy, Honda, Ford, and even a CAN truck. Impressive data out of them all, but the free software packages didn't have any of the manufacturer specific code explanations. I figure as time goes on more and better software will be released for it with manufacturer specific stuff, because it uses these ELM327 chips that a bunch of people seem to be writing software for. Doesn't help you right now with your specifics, but it has already saved me $99. You sound like a builder, bang some bytes, write some software for it, and I'll try it out!
The only tools that I know of to do all those functions are the Tech2 and Ease software professional. The Tech2 is a hand held unit and measures one value (usually) at a time and the Ease software will measure the functions you want one at a time or as many in that module as available. If you want you can know the angle of the outside rear view mirror or position of a power seat.
