some tune basic questions
1) The tuner first instructed me to go to an exhaust shop to have a bung welded in ahead of the catalytic converter so that he can insert his wideband O2 sensor. Is this standard practice?
2) He said that an alternative would be to use the car's own O2 sensors in which case the bung wouldn't be needed. Is this a viable option?
3) He said that he could replace the OS on the PCM with the 2003 OS. I know it's common to replace it with the 2002 OS ... he did that for his car... but have problems been reported with putting 2003 on a 99 chip?
Thanks a lot

2) Using option #1 would give you the best all around tune. It is easier, faster, and more precise to tune with a wideband than trying to tune using the stock O2s (fuel trims). He will also be able to nail down your wot tune with the wideband.
Given the two options, I would go with the wideband.
3) Not sure about this one.
I have heard of changing the OS, but haven't seen it done before.. Interesting....hmm... Not sure of the benefits, the later (after 2000) OS has a single VE table, maybe thats why he wants to use it..
