Default Spark Plugs..

Are the new AC/Delco Iridium Professional spark plugs better than the NGK TR6 plugs for daily driving?
Thanks,
Rsty

First off let me say that this is just my opinion. Unless you're spraying or running FI most people run the TR55's instead of the TR6's. My opinion is spark plugs now days are leaps and bounds above what they used to be. I feel you pretty much can't go wrong with any good named plug. You'll normally get tons of miles out of just about any plug. On my cars I tend to stay away from overly expensive plugs and keep it simple and basic. I never have issues with plugs but like I said this is all just my opinion.

I went with NGK TR55s. For $20, I have no problem changing them after a few thousand miles. To me, Im uncomfortable with running plugs over 100K. GM used them just because they last longer and the LS1/LS6 has really bad placement of some of the plugs.

Iridiums or TR55s, I dont think anybody can go wrong. I own turbo cars and Im just comfotable with good old copper cores. Platinum and Iridium may be OK but I'll stay with the copper ones.

The TR55's. They range from $1.50-$3.00 each. My opinion is to run them 15-30k anyway, so that's what I use on normally aspirated apps, and TR6 on boosted or nitrous apps. I run .050" on the 55's, and .032-.035 on the TR6's, in a power adder app.

Using the iridiums or platinums are fine on any normally aspirated application, albeit more expensive.

Thanks for your input. Today I changed to the Iridium plugs and right off I could feel the SOTP response. I like the idea that the Iridiums are good up to 100K..
Thank everyone for their input.

Seems like the TR6s will remove 3-4 degrees of KR.

Knock Retard. I have not seen the different designs of spark plugs cause them to either advance or retard. If you have a nasty old set in there, and you put some new ones in, the knock retard you may have had with the old nasty plugs will go away. I have only seen this in extreme cases, like the one that had 5-90k plugs, and 3 splitfires in one engine. A new set of TR55's, and it was as if it was tuned again.

The TR6s are a slightly cooler heat range. If your timimg s not over advanced and/or your compression is not too high you may no have knock retard. You will have to scan to find out.
