Default Problems after Using superchips for DTC reader.

Hello, I have a superchips programer for 2004 LS1 vehicles used for a 2004 ls1 gto, today the check engine light came on while driving. I figured it was something minor, but wanted to check it out to be sure, BTW I have a 2000 corvette. Anyway, I pluged it in went through the prompts to find the DTC which turned out to be nothing. Anyway, the superchips would then not go to the exit prompts. I tried everything, still stuck on the:
A- to program, B- to check codes screen. Finally I just unpluged it. Now the car gives all sorts of error messages like "engine reduced power" and "service engine" "low fuel". I tried unpluging the battery for a coulple of hours- no help. The car start but die in 2 seconds now. PLEASE HELP. Has anyone had a similar problem before??? Thanks in advance.

Sounds like it was programmed for a 2004 GTO and somehow it then was programming to a 2000 C5 and if that is so then the PCM is toast unless a dealer can force reflash it with software for your model year.

If the scanner will talk to the PCM now then its main software is still intact and could be reflashed, if scanner cannot now talk to PCM then its hosed and would require someone to either replace the flash memory or buy another PCM. Used PCMs are about $100

Huh? I read that drpokey7 attempted to read codes from his 04 GTO with a SuperChips tuner for an 04 (SuperChips #2724?). I think the 00 C5 comment was made in the hopes of avoiding a "take your GTO question elsewhere" response.

drpokey7, what you describes sounds pretty typical of what you see when the PCM and BCM aren't talking to each other. In particular the "dies after two seconds" sounds VATS-like. This sometimes happens when there are battery/ground issues. Dunno whether the GTO has a BCM configuration similar to the C5 or not, but it's something to consider. If it does and has somehow set a P163x VATS DTC, the PCM and BCM may need to be synchronized. There's a short way to do that with a Tech-II and a long way to do it with the key, but you'd probably want to see a service manual for that. It's long enough that you wouldn't want to try it if the battery is flaky at all. I'd definitely call Superchips for assistance before doing anything else.

Thanks for the replies, I did use the tuner for the 2004 gto on the 2000 corvette, I have both. Anyway, the problem turns out not to be the tuner, buy my own fault for putting the little plugs in the terminals under the glovebox in backwards. Swaped them finally after trying everything else and it started right up. Thanks again.
