Default hypertech basic question

I got a hypertech programmer with my '99 when I got it second hand. Thinking I'd never use the programmer I sold it on e-bay.

The chap that bought it, however, says my original stock programme is in the programmer and he wants the hypertech one which is in my car. Can he load or copy the hypertech programme from my C5 back into the programmer so he can use it but also leave me with the hypertech programme? I dont really want to go back to stock as I am happy with the way the car performs.

Yes you will need to "detune" your car to use the programmer on another. It stores info from your computer. You can either return his cash or go back to stock. I have heard of people having Hypertech open the code for $100-$150 but I would want the programmer if it were in my car.

You have to put the stock tune back into you car before he can upload the hypertech tune to his car.

Thanks for the info. I'm not really up on this type of thing - so if I returned to stock programme would I notice the difference do you think? And what might it be?

It depends on what the previous owner did when he installed the Hypertech Tune. If he just installed the performance tune you probably will not notice anything. If you have an automatic and he changed shift points or firmness you will notice. He may have changed top speed limit and rev limiter.

Right now you don't know what you have.

If I were you I would return it to stock tune. Then if you want to load the HP tune and adjust the other settings to your own preferences you will know exactly what you have.

ps. I sold mine on ebay and had it Dynotuned when I did my mods.

Thanks for the advice. I'll see how eager he is to have the Hyper prog.
