Default Tune issues

I'm having two issues with my "mail order tune" (I know, a custom tune is better, but $350-$500 for a basically stock DD is not an option)
My wife's car has a ZO6 intake, ported TB, no cats, and 3.42 gears and 3000 TC
The first question seems to possibly be answered on a previous post concerning shift points. I also asked for help on the tech section, so I have a general idea now.
The car appears to be set to shift around 6500 (which is 100 away from my H/C car's shift ponts) and is hitting the rev limiter hard! I'm looking for some advice on proper shift points and rev limiter settings for this combination
The other is a little more subjctive. My wife says while she's driving a steady speed around 2000rpm, the car feels like it has a slight "downshift" every once in a while. I've only felt it once (and wasn't expecting it) and it felt like the TC was unlocking for a split second. I called the tuner and he said that was normal, and had somthing to do with "pulse width modulation" and it could not be corrected.
I have a 3500 stall in mine ahd have never experienced it!
Is there somthing I can do short of looking for a new tuner??
Thanks

If you did not reprogram the shift point after the 3:42 install your going to hit the limiter everytime.

Here's what Diablosport recommends for a stocker with 3.42 gears.

1->2 41 mph | 6100 rpm
2->3 80 mph | 6000 rpm
3->4 130mph | 6000 rpm

4->3 118mph
3->2 79mph
2->1 36mph

"* NOTE: The shift point functions work in conjunction with each other, based on load. Use the RPM shift point function for WOT (wide open throttle) shifts, and MPH shift point function for part throttle shifts. The vehicle WILL shift at whichever point it reaches first! This is dictated by load on the vehicle, RPM vs MPH."

The numbers above assume your rev-limiter is set at least 200rpm higher than your highest shift point. With the additional slip from your tc, you might want to make that 300rpm higher, assuming your valvetrain is up to the task.
