What kind of changes can be made to the functions of the digital vacuum display on C5 corvette dash. I want to know if I can stop the Vacuum display on the C5's from reporting errors, service modes and reduced engine power display...
since no one has answered you yet, I'm gonna give you my opinion. I doubt it very seriously. If you are having problems though, with messages that you are NOT going to fix, or whatever, I'll bet you could hook up a device that would automatically clear messages at a prescribed interval. I got the idea when installing my deluxe Laptrax computer. There is a blue wire in the wiring harness behind the buttons of your DIC, that is related to the reset button. Laptrax uses this wire to reset the "competition mode" display. You could put a timer and relay in that would reset the DIC for your purposes. Let me know if you're interested.
P.S. It would be a minor PITA, but it's the only way I know to accomplish what you are asking.
Here is the deal..I have an aftermarket computer running the engine and trans....so I have alot of stuff unhooked from the stock PCM. I cleared everything I can.....but still getting "reduced engine power" and traction control warnings......This as you know overrides the display function....pig PIA
I was going to disconnect the DIC center...but then I would loose alot of functional information.
What you are describing....which is a unit that would clear codes as they occur before they get to the display....therefore no warning display.
Can you explain how this works in more detail...who makes the device? does it filter out all codes? What is the purpose of a "timer"
Thanks for the reply...you can email me at tmo26@aol.com
The codes I am getting are not editble with HP Tuners. The are multiple errors including communications errors......I dont want the Display to report any errors.
I have checked all and cleaned all grounds...replaced PCM. The codes will not go away...return in seconds after clearing....
My only option is to eliminate the DIC reporting..
I checked out the above device......this only disables the traction control components/DIC.
Is there a wire I can cut on the back of the DIC control that sends the DIC signal to the dash display?
The Cluster is not repairable...so no schematics exist..
This is why I posted the Tech 2 question..........initially

I am talking about sending a single pulse to the reset button at whatever your prescribed interval may be. I think the best you could do is either have a timer to send a clear dtc pulse once every second, or five seconds, or whatever, or you could make a switch to turn off the DTC reporting function unless you flipped the switch.
I can't think of anything better.
I've been to West Palm Beach to visit my friend who lives out there. Nice place, but I didn't like the vibe that the women in that area gave off. Even the ugly mugs seemed like they though their $h!t didn't stink. Those chicks are too rich for me.

Yeah...I would like a switch that would keep DIC's from being reported(any DIC). Where / what wire would the switch be spliced into? What would happen if I just cut that same wire?
As far as the woman...I have heard this before...I am married...no longer looking...but some hot ones here.
Let me know the specifics on the wire/switch...I think this would work out great...

I don't have specifics, I haven't reviewed the schematics for that particular circuit before. If you are interested in that, I would highly suggest getting a Helms manual set. It will have the schematic circuits for everything you could possibly think of. As far as the reset switch, I believe that would be the blue wire, probably a low voltage signal, I haven't metered it yet.
Where there is a will there is a way. If I look at that circuit any time soon, I'll pm you, but I can't make any promises, as I still have a lot of preparation for my end of month event.
You cannot find any schematics of the Cluster/DIC panel.....I have looked everywhere....and even called people who repair auto dashes and corvette dashes.......The Cluster / DIC panel is a non-servicable part therefore no info is available...
If you come across a schematic let me know where I can get a copy...Thanks Tom
