Hello all, I installed dynatech Lt's with hiflows and xpipe a few days ago, I also did plugs and wires. After completion I started it up and check engine light came on and stayed on, I reset the battery and still the same thing. Ilet it sit connected overnight and magically the check engine light went off, until you hit about 80mph then it blinks a few times and goes away. Can someone please help me diagnose this problem? Nick
Post the trouble code. It'll tell you what component is unhappy. My guess is insufficient O2 sensor activity, or you've disconnected your rear sensors without disabling them.
It says a random misfire. If it were one single plus wouldn't give a specific cylinder? I'm not sure on this computer stuff. I put ngktr6's in it because I bought a blower and I'm going to install next weekend, i put new wires on also. I hooked up all the o2's and the fronts are side to the side and rears are cris crossed like they should be.
Is it okay to run your wires without the aluminum spring loaded heat boot covers? There's about a good 1/8-1/4 inch distance from the boot and the tube. And the only way you can tell if the plus is cracked is prety much by pulling all 8 out? Thanks.
your cats probably aren't getting the job done, like the stock ones were. You will probably have catalytic material degradation soon, if not already. My 'high flow' cats didn't last more than a few months.
I inspected my cats and al lthey seemed like in top shape.. The cel went away but it flashed at full throttle 80mph. Ichecked codes nothing come sup except for a bunch of letters acdl or something simmilar to that with numbers and letters. I'm not sure what it is, when you hold options and push fuel 4 times, there are no codes and then these letters and numbers show up.. Any idea?
Well I know i eventually need a tune, i bought a vortech kit i'm going to install and wanted to pay for one tune not two, you know what i mean? I put colder plugs in and i'm going to put a 160 stat in as well. Is it harmful to run the spark plug wired without the heat covers?

My vote: don't do a 160, do a 185-195, and if it runs hot (230 or more) get a bigger radiator!

I have had this happen. Guaranteed it's your plugs or your wires. Make CERTAIN you have them plugged in all the way. Take all wires off and replug. If that doesn't help, try new plugs.
I agree check everthing plug wires, look for crack plugs, But most cars learn and the check engine goes off. So just keep driving the car and hope it learns. Have your Mechanic or yourself reset the check engine light and let it learn. I ran my car with header for several months without a tune, I waited for a major reason H/C Maggie or turbo to have my ride tuned, my PCM learned and adjusted to the changes and the addition of headers and Catbacks.
