took out my 2003 coupe today for a spin, only went about 1/4 mile and check engine light came on. Checked all fluids and everything was fine. Temp and oil pressure are fine as well as volts. Went down the road to Autozone and had them scan the car. Got code for o2 sensor drivers side after the cat. This car has only 8500 miles. Is this common.
Put some good quality 93 octaine in it & drive it a few miles (50-100) to see if it clears up. Sounds like either corrosion from not running enough or poor fuel from the same reason. These cars need to be run often to keep everythingworking properly & to prevent seals from shrinking & drying out.
Dad's vette was modded a few years ago. They redid the heads, replaced cam shaft, put on headers, replaced throttle body, manifold, etc. Supposed to give it 500hp.
My questions are this:
Supposedly we are supposed to have four o2 sensors?
Dad's car was stalling at lights and not driving right so he took it to someone else and he said it's missing 2 02 sensors and that the guy who modded it should have deleted them from the computer but he didn't. It seems like it's fixed, but it has been "fixed" before and the problem comes back.
Anyone know the disable codes for the rear o2's?
Is it true you don't need o2 sims in 04's and above?
Give JP a call: 813-628-0080 and he can explain it all. We can also tune them out for a minimal charge as well. Is it running good now at idle? We can fix that also.

Thanks for any help
Yes, you are oem equipped, and should have 4 O2's. However, the rear O2's are for cat monitoring, and will not affect the performance, though the light will come on, for the lack of cats or the sensors. Deleting the lookup for the sensors is easily done by a tuner, but your main problem, is that your car just needs to be tuned PROPERLY, or if a problem has popped up with what was a well-running car, a competent tuner can diagnose what has gone wrong. Either way, you need to get it into the doctor, sooner than later.

do you have stock exhaust? if not it is common with lt headers / hi flow cats to have these p420 & p430 codes come up sometimes. o2 sims will solve your issue, shoot a pm to cbrf4i1, he has some.
