I looked at the codes posteded by PeteZ06, thank you, and it says engine misfire. It is misfiring! Does the c after 300 mean anything?
I have installed Dynatech Headers, new taylor wires and new plugs. Did the pull the spark plug wire but could not pick out any cyclinder in particular. One other item is the righthand air tube. On the 01 Z it was located in the middle of the exhaust header and on the Dynomax on the last tube next to the firewall. The hard metal air tube could not be bent to accomadate the position, so I cut a section of the hard metal out and replaced it with a hi-temp silcon section of hose about 6" long. Calls to Dynotech have not been returned for the past week. My bud JR told me how to locate the codes after the check engine light came on. I cleared it once and it came right back on. Any ideas and help is appreciated.
Thanks
Just to clarify~
The issue you have with your Dynatech Supermaxx headers are with "DYNATECH" spelled with an "A", not with us for which our name is, "DYNOTECH is spelled with "O".
Two different companies entirely and no relation...with two different products.
The c stands for current, meaning the condition that caused the code is current during your current ignition cycle. If you don't have a scanner to monitor misfire data then try grounding out each plug wire on the coil end with a test lamp, slide the test lamp down the side of the boot (dont poke a hole in it) and see if any specific cylinder does not have a considerable rpm drop. The cylinder with little or no rpm drop is the one with the misfire. Once you isolate it, try swapping plug wires first then spark plugs. If that doesn't do anything try swapping a coil and see if the misfire changes to the cylinder with the parts you swapped....You might try spraying a light salt water solution on the plug wires and plugs and see if you can see the spark arcing. Did this start after your mods?
