Tuning 101
Looking for advice from those that have been there. I'm retiring soon after 32 years in the USAF (currently in Afghanistan for a year), and intend to spend much time in my garage tinkering with my toys, including my '02 C5. I'm proficient with car mechanics, having built several large and small block chevys, but would like to get smart with tuning. I realize that all I need are a laptop, tuning program, but that's the easy part - I also need knowledge. How do you recommend getting smart on this? Are there books available on computer tuning? I know experience is best, but I think I need a baseline knowledge before trying to screw with A/F ratios, tuning tables, etc.
Your thoughts?
Thanks, Gordon

You can download EFI Live and open and view tunes (provided with the D/L) while your over there to work through the tutorials, the software defualts to demo mode, but you can work your way through the menus and see what all the tutorials are talking about. Great way to pass the time on DET.
The best book I have read is:
Engine Management: Advanced Tuning
by Greg Banish
It is very thorough.
I think you have the basics, you just need to change your mind set from changing jets and adjusting a distributor to changing a fuel table here and a spark table there. I is a lot of fun!
Best of luck to you on your new endeavor!

I am very happy with the Co's support as well as jesse's help with questions as they pop up--Go with someone you feel comfortable talking to and a company that offers training before and support after the purchase--Thats why i chose jesse after researching all the alternatives---
