Default p1514

Car was having some problems, idleing high, and stalling. Cleaned MAF, and TB. Changed fuel filter also. I start driving get check engine light, and car runs terrible. Pull over, shut it off, run codes get p1514. Turn car back on runs better. I have a shutter at low RPM lets say under about 1500? any ideas. The car only has a K&N drop in.

A P1514 is usually caused by having the table C6101 out of balance--It is the "predicted airflow table"---Many things can set this code or make the table out of balance--the things that usually causes it are related to the trans tuning or to an increased load at certain RPM's--It is an easy fix however---You need to go to table C6101 and add some % to the entire table---I would start by adding 25% to the entire table--This usually corrects it-
When you get the p1514 code--the car goes into a "limp mode" and will only let it run about 45 MPH----Turning the car off 3 times and re-starting it will re-set the limp mode and let it run normally again---but only until it hits the unbalance again and it will do the same thing all over again--

PS If this just started happening after the install of the K&N or after a re-oil--It may be that you over oiled it and you are getting false MAF readings--clean the MAF with brake cleaner and that will fix it--

P1514 sets whenever the PCM-calculated "expected airflow" at any given throttle position does not match the airflow read by the MAF (or the MAP-calculated airflow if in SD mode). The PCM does this comparison simply as a safeguard to insure the electronic throttle is functioning correctly.

This is a common code to deal with when doing major engine mods (ie: blower or big cam)..But for a stock car with just an air filter, it is not normal. It could be either the MAF or the throttle body (specifically - the throttle position sensor) causing it, or a problem in the wiring to either component.

Have you had any MAF codes anytime recently? P0101, P0102, P0103? If so, I would suspect the MAF performance first. It can lead to this code.

But if not, I would suspect the throttle position sensor on the throttle body first. If the PCM is getting erroneous throttle position feedback, this code will occur.

If you find nothing obvious like am electrical connector off, and never had any MAF codes..like suggested above, try swapping out the throttle body.
