Anyone have E-9 error code problems with their LC-1?
I just installed a Innoveate XD-16 gauge and a LC-1. I tapped into fuse 22 in the passenger foot well fuse panel. Also on this tap is a SPA duel boost/fuel pressure gauge, which draws about 300 ma. The ground for the LC-1, XD-16 and SPA gauge goes directly to the frame ground for the engine ground strap.
Without the sensor attached when I turn on the ignition without starting the car the LC-1 sometimes gives me the E-9 (low voltage) error code. Other times I get the correct E-2 error code because the sensor isn't attached. Sometimes when I turn the ignition on it reads E-2 and then when I start the car it changes to E-9 and will not change to E-2.
I have checked and double checked my wiring. The following are my voltages across the LC-1 power wire and and the ground wire:
Battery voltage car not running: 12 V
Ignition on without car running: 11.5 V
Car running: 13.5 V
Now I don't thing a 1/2 volt drop versus battery voltage should be an issue considering that the power lead is a switched source (has to go through ignition). In the LC-1 manual says that it should run at just 9 V.
Has anyone had a similar problem? If so, what did you do to solve it? Do I have a faulty LC-1?
I know the LC-1 is picky with the ground, if its not real good you will get errors. check out their forum, Klaus is very helpful www.tuneyourengine.com
If you go to the LC1 website in the FAQ you will find the ground position is the no. 1 problem...they recommend an engine ground rather than a frame ground. Also, they suggest you measure ground resistance if using multiple ground points.
