I just jumped ship from a C3 forum, tell me exactly what a "tune " on a C5 consists of, and what it will do? I am purchasing a 2000 6sp with a B&B exhaust and a Breathless airbox and filter, how will a "tune" compensate for these changes and what kind of HP can I expect.
I really psyched about the upgrade from a C3 to a C5, I really liked my C3 but when I drove the 2000 I was amazed by the performance differance.
With those mods, I think you'll be OK the way you are.
Unless you've just got drivability problems, then a tune to get your AFR (air/fuel ratio) would be pretty much a waste of money for maybe 10 rwhp. With your mods, the pcm can take care of the adjustments. Now if you put a cam in, that's a whole different story!

A complete custom Dyno tune does the following and then some:
+ Fuel tables that give you the correct A:F ratio in all driving conditions
+ Optimal timing tables for all driving conditions
+ Reduction of torque management
+ Correct fan settings(applicable mainly with the addition of a T-stat)
+ Skip shift elimination on 6 speed manuals
+ Shift points and line pressure adjustments on automatics
typically a gain of .3 to .5 tenths in the quarter mile is realized when done correctly. HP gains will vary depending on how far off your initial stock tune is and what mods you have.
