When talking about scan tool, are you interested in logging the scan or just running the code reader. The vette has a built in code reader, most scan tools (hand held) will also run a code scan and some give elementary explanations. Next up is the Predator type of scan/tune tool with code reading/limited scan log and some tuning functions. The better method is the HPT/EFILive scan/tune software for computers. These will scan/log/explain all the common codes in the vette and many other OBD II cars and give you the ability to tune all the tunable PCM functions and several BCM/ETBM functions. The best Scan software is an OEM program found in the Tech II or EASE software systems. These will tune GM approved updates and scan every module on the car including left/right power window switch's, rear tail light circuitry, etc. However they usually require add-on modules for the different computers.
