I just picked up a Hypertech 30011 for a steal. Any '03 LS1 owners out there using one ? I don't know yet what to expect to gain with its use. And where to start.
Mine is bone stock as far as I know other than a K&N filter and it's automatic.

I had one when I first got my first C5... 5 years ago. What it does:
1. advances the timing a little so you feel a quicker pickup
2. changes the shifting pressure so it shifts quicker and will 'chirp' the tires (auto)
3. allows rear end ratio change however (at the time I had mine) will only do 2.73 and 3.15

So, for SOTP.. it will feel like a LOT. In actuality, not much for real "hp" gains.

For future reference... you MUST hang on to it because when you want to do any other real mods (headers, cam etc) you will need to remove the hypertech program, reinstall your original program, and then have your car tuned. You can tune over the ht however the ht then becomes trash as it will not work on any other car.

Probably why I bought it SO cheap, it was listed as new and I got it for 20$ , now I know why.

I'd be surprised if it works for $20. Even used they cost around $200. Once you hook it up, it will tell you first off if it can be used. If the previous owner didn't "offload" his program, you can't use it... at all... ever.

They aren't safe in my opinion. They take so damn long to program that you better hope your battery is 150% because if it goes weak then the pcm will scramble. It happened twice on my Z28. After that I said no more hypercrap. If you want to tune get EFI Live or HP tuners

I would not even bother with the HPP3. Like stated before, it take 25 minutes to download and you better have a fully charged battery or bye bye PCM. Not worth the risk for very little gain. I had one with the 1998 TA and hated it. Best bet, get a tune with HP Tuners or EFI Live and you will be better served.

Thanks for the input from all. Live and learn. Glad I didn't give any more than that for it. Probably just relist it on the bay, but I hate to endanger my 100% pos feedback.

YEP I never gave it a second thought. Present project (replacing skid cage) took priority.
