I have the Mod bug but like most of us nowadays are short on funds. I have a 98 C5 with Corsa Pace Car & Blackwing CAI, but everything else is stock. I feel my next step is headers. I am considering the usual choices(Kooks, Melrose, LG, etc) but havent fully decided on which set I will choose. Reading the forum seems any is a great choice, especially when comparing to stock.
I have a question on tune although. Some say absolutely and other say the extra 5-10 HP you may get out of a approx $500 dyno tune isn't worth the expense when just adding headers. They advised to save my money till I get the Head/Cam/Intake work done.
I would like to get your opinions and experience with adding a set of headers( choice ) and do I need the Dyno tune or not?

Hey Chief. As far as brands go ARH, Kooks, and LG are all good choices. You wont get a definitive answer on here to which is the best. As far as getting the tune, you should definitely get one at some point. If you're gonna upgrade the H/C then waiting to get the tune until that's done to get the most bang for your buck isn't a terrible idea. Now once you pay to open a file on HP Tuners subsequent tunes wont cost as much so that's something to consider as well. Best of luck.
i did all the bolts at once. your car will not "need" a tune. it will run just fine without one, but will run a little better with a tune, just like it would if you did nothing to it and got it tuned.
if you intend to throw a cam in, id hold off on the tune.
some tuners also give free upgrade tunes or discount tunes for continued service
