People are driving me nuts telling me that my numbers aren't correct because my car was done on a Mustang dyno instead of a dynojet. WHAT THE F IS THE DEAL?????
Dyno's are great as a tuning tool so you have a base to compare to when making mods----other than that I think they are just BS----The dyno operator can make it read whatever he wants--especially if you've purchased parts from him or had work done by him he will try to put his shop in a better light---As a tuner i have run my car on the local 3 dyno shops just for kicks---what a joke---All done within 3 months --similar weather---RWHP readings were 350--365---385---
Also if you havw an A4 make sure you always run it he same way--locked or unlocked TCC---Best way to get a close RWHP is to run it on the 1/4 mile----The MPH is the best representation of pure HP--
Let the import tuner crowd show off with their chrome and rear wings and NOS on the dyno's----They have so little to be happy about !!!! (ha ha)

Absolutely. I've had dyno operators ask me if I wanted "real" numbers or if I wanted them "a little high". One asked me if I wanted a cold duct on my FMIC on the TT truck, and when I said not thanks he offered offered to freeze the FMIC before the run
Yeah, run in the same gear (2nd or 3rd -- both tranny types) with the converter in the same state -- both will make a difference.
IMO what dynos are really good for is finalizing your tune in a controlled environment. The numbers are really only good for same-day comparisons of changes made that day -- numbers from another day serve as a baseline guide IMO.
