what would trigger this code? misfire? or crank sensor?
new engine installed and i am getting a P0336(CKP circut performance) and a p1336 with the engine off the codes will not clear and come back on instantly. I tred to do a relearn with a Tech 2 but it would not allow it ( i belive due to the 0336 code not clearing.) I took it apart to put in a new crank sensor, all wiring looks good, ground in place, the oil level wires were melted together but i wasnt getting a code from that. when i pulled the plugs the pass side front cyl looks like it was not firing at all, it was clean and fuel saoked and the others looked normal. i have not pulled the drivers side plugs yet to see if any more were not firing. The car has MSD coils which i am unsure if they are all good or not (came used from a friend of a friend) I plan to fix the oil wires, and put it all back together with a new crank sensor and the factory coils. the Eagle crank was ordered with a 24x reluctor and the builder said the crank sensor gap was good. I have not checked the runout yet. am i missing anything? would a dead coil pack cause those codes? or would a bad crank sensor cause a dead cylinder. any thoughts??
The service manual provides these diagnostic aids:
- An incorrectly installed or damaged crankshaft reluctor wheel
- A sensor this is in contact with the reluctor wheel
- Loose crankshaft end play will cause the CKP wheel to move out of alignment with the sensor.
i would start here--the manual sometimes is too complex--this gives you some basics to start with--They are written in RED--then if that doesn't work follow the rest of the diagnosis procedures---ALSO--Is there a fuse for the CKP ? http://gearchatter.com/viewtopic1035...66ffec7a703b98
That's a great resource! I originally intended to attach a PDF of that info from my 2003 service manual, but this forum doesn't support attachments as far as I can determine. Bookmarked your reference. Thanks again.
