I need some info. I'm in the process of moding my C5Z. I will be getting a mail order tune when the mods are complete. The question is, how does the factory ecm operate in layman terms please. I hear that the ecm will "learn" WTF ?? I've heard the more I drive it the better it will run. Is any of this true ?? What do I need to know about the ecm ?? The main question is revolving around my second tune, I'm running a 125-175 wet shot.
Should I get a second ecm and tune it for the juice or do something like the new Frost set up ??
Thanks.....
if you are going to use only one PCM, your will run a little rich when your not spraying (which will be most of the time). Obviously you have to set the car up for NO2 and you can drive normally. If you set it up for normal driving and then sprayed, you'd be lean and have a bad day.
Ive heard of some guys have two computers (PITA), and Ive heard some guys just buying a used HPT with two credits and setting it up just for their car. This way on track days, you can have your NO2 tune. On DD days, a differant street tune.
If it doesnt need to make too large of corrections, it will "learn". It being your long term fuel trims will be averaged out and it will use the averaged out correction. But that will only be for your part throttle conditions. When you go full throttle, there is no learning going on, that's where your tune does all the work, and if its off..could be a bad day.

That isn't necessarily true. With a wet shot, the extra fuel is added via the nitrous system and not by commanding more fuel. Once naturally aspirated WOT fueling has been addressed and verified to be correct, fueling on the nitrous can be controlled with jetting.

So are you saying because its a wet shot, all you need is a normal good baseline tune, and the once the NO2 is activated, you will not need additional fuel from the baseline fueling? I dont agree

That's fine that you don't agree. There is certainly more than one way to skin the tuning cat. You can command more fuel when running a wet shot, but you can also adjust the fuel jet to supply more fuel.
