Well I bought a new Predator back in March. And still to this day it will not work on my 1999 C5. Yes I purchased the correct model. I've had the PCM on the car re flashed, I've sent the Predator back to Diablosport twice and they keep saying it works just fine. I have had a Tech from Diablo take me step by step through the process on installing a tune just in case I did something wrong, but still no luck. They tell me the car might have a performance chip or something on it thats interfering with the Predator. The car has no chip or anything on it besides this. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...FH6VCK03R1GEM3
its some converter that says it puts out 80 watts. I found it in the passenger footwell next to the ECM. The previous owner had a soundsystem and must have left this.
Anyways could the converter be whats interfering with the predator when trying to install a tune?
Sorry for the long post, I just wanted to give yall all my info.
you need to disable anything and everything aftermarket... i.e. aftermarket stereo products, alarms, remote starts, etc etc... they will cause issues, due to power draws and interrupts they cause...
Okay took that converter out and still no luck. I plugged in the Predator and let it turn on. Pressed Performance Tune, selected the trans type, and then it says now attempting to backup original tune. After about 10 secs of weird noises the Predator says "cannot back up original tune(-12)". I let it try 2 more time and still nothing.
I don't know what to do now, either sell this unit and get a dyno tune or put the unit in the closet and still get a dyno tune.
I do have one thing that confuses me about this predator. The first time I plugged it in when I purchased it back in March, it DID back up the original tune but from there would not let me adjust anything. Some how from pushing buttons, it trashed my PCM and I got it re flashed.
So if nothing has changed on the car since March, besides re flashing the PCM, why won't it back up the original tune now?

because it already backed it up before... and you never restored the original backup to the car...
and now it's locked, because you got the pcm reflashed at the dealer... so the tunes don't match....
you say you sent the predator back to diablosport... for what? and when?? was it before the dealer reflashed your pcm, or was it after that??
when did you buy this predator?? what revision is it on??

Purchased in March 2010 and it has the latest revision (9r17).
Okay let me start from the beginning, back in March I plugged it up to the car and it read the original tune, but then it would not adjust anything. Called Diablo and they recommended getting the PCM reflashed. Went to the Dealer got it flashed and plugged up the Diablo again. It backed up the original tune and from there is when it bricked the PCM. Called Diablo back and they said, send us the PCM and the Predator. Diablo reflashed the PCM and sent it back within a couple of days, now the car runs again, but they kept the Predator for a couple months.
When I received the Predator, Diablo said it works just fine, they even tested it on a co workers C5 Corvette. Okay so it suppose to work, I plugged up the Predator and now it won't back up the original tune. I called Tech Support and had a guy walk me step by step just so I could make sure I didn't do anything wrong. Still nothing happened, so the Tech said request a RMA number and send the Predator back.
The Diablo was sent back within a week and I was told it passed with flying colors. I tried one last time and it still did not back up the original tune.
So here we are now, I really hope im not confusing you with my long story's, I just want you to get the whole scoop.
After all that, I am pretty sure there is something in the vehicle causing the issue, since the vehicle it was tested on here was my car, and it worked perfectly.
Do you have access to any 99-02 F-body or 99-02 truck or another C5 to see if it will communicate with that vehicle?
okay but out of curiosity, how come the guys at the dealership can use there handheld tuner device and read the car perfectly?
No they didn't tune the car, just reflashed it.
Do you have any idea what could possibly be in this stock car to interfere with the Predator? Could my Wireless Network, Bluetooth from a phone(even if its not in the car at the time), or any other wireless device interfere with it?

The wiring on aftermarket stereo systems is complicated--Especially when trying to install one on a car equipted with a BOSE system---Most stereo installers install them incorrectly---This goes for any aftermarket equipt such as ipods---GPS--remote starts and ALARMS----
Look at your OBD2 connector---Many installers will get power off the "purple "wire in the back of the OBD2---THIS IS WRONG and will prevent from flashing or reading tunes---Also as mentioed go to BOTH fuse panels and remove ALL fuses associated with the Radio--BOSE or Amp
Dis connect any wires attched to that purple wire----
