Default Check engine light = P0133 code

Hey guys, my 02 z06 recently threw a check engine light. I diagnosed it and the code is P0133, which is O2 Sensor Circuit Slow Response (Bank 1 Sensor 1).

Should I have the o2 sensor replaced? I am at 41,xxx miles. Just seeing if anyone else had this issue around my mileage.

Thanks everyone.

Had this problem, had to replace the o2 sensor.

I suggest buying the adapters that allow you to run your rear o2 sensors up front, those have better heaters on them since they are farther away.

I also replaced both my front o2's with ones made by denso, simply because they resist alternate fuels much better

Hope that helps.

So to clarify:

Buy 2 new rear o2's

Go to Racetronix.com and get the adapters to allow you to run rear o2's in the front

Enjoy

^ yeah it's because the front u2 sensors get cold and the computer thinks there is a problem

Rear o2's up front is the fix

Since my car had longtube headers installed by the previous owner, do you think it's possible what you're describing is already done to the car?

couldn't you just replaced the front 02 sensors and tuned out the rear ones with predator, sct or hp tuners?

I purchased the car used, so not 100% sure what the setup is. The rear sensors could be tuned out for all I know. I am taking it to a tuner next week to get an idea before I buy any more o2 sensors. In the meantime, I was just wondering if anyone else experienced problems with their sensors around my mileage. Seems to be a common problem.

Where is the best place to buy the rear o2's from?

My car threw this code a while ago along with P0153 (for the other bank), then I took it to get tuned and they both went away until after I got the cam intsalled and re-tuned, now 0133 is back..

More than likely the rear 02's have been tuned out already or you would be getting several rear 02 codes
LT's always cause front 02 issues--If you jyst replace them with new front ones they will again eventually go bad--Reason being the LT 02 bung locattions are now further aft than stock and the 02's never heat up properly---replacing them with the rear sensors is often done--the rears are much more sensitive and heat up better---
PS: If your rears are still on the car--use them !!!!! just move them to the front and stick the fronts onto the rear location--You may have to purchase adapter pigtais----If the code disappears after deleting them you're OK if NOT you'l have the adaters then just get new rears and install on the front--- Sometimes if the rears are deleted and left on the car they will beome fouled and go bad---

So P0133 and P0153 are for the front o2s on the headers? 0133 being drivers side and 0153 being passenger?

Also, is this the correct adapter? I have a 2002 Z06

YES

PS: the rear 02's only report the condition of the cats--and have no real affect on engine operation-other than when the cats get hot---the ECM will dump fuel to cool them off and the eng may lose power from being overly rich
The front 02's however on a car with a MAF are critical--engine won't run prperly without them---( will run in a reduced power level to get you home )
