Default PCM question

Posted on a "tune" forum, but you guys KNOW Vettes

Trying to make a decision on my PCM
I'm looking for information on the REAL benifit IN A SPECIFIC situation of updating from the 98 pcm to a 99+ pcm. (Mine is fried, so this is the time if I am going to do it)
I have a H/C blown C5 making 700rwhp on a speed density tune. I am 95% satisfied with my tune, so I'm not sure what "benefits" I would see from the "faster" 99+ pcm

If I stay with 98, I buy it, install it, buy (I guess) a couple more credits and download my tune.

If I update to 99. I have to buy it, re-pin it (not my strong point) have it "updated" to take care of fuel gauge issues, etc, buy more credits (I guess) and transfer #s into a new tune (on tables that are different)

Other than more tuning parameters, what would be the real benifit?

I would stay with the 98 ECM--- No real need to update to a newer ECM especially since you are using a SPEED DENSITY tune-- The advantages of using a newer ECM is that with an older ECM the MAF table is somwhat lower--- the newer ECM's have a MAF table that can accomdate more airflow--BUT since you are NOT using your MAF--there is no reason to update--Plus you can just reflash your old tune into your new ECM and be done--

Thanks TB
This was what I was really thinking, but just keep hearing guys say that the new PCM was so much faster it would make a lot of difference, and I'm definitely no expert on this stuff so I really didn't know what to believe
My MAF ran out of range around 4600rpm, but in fairness, I think the 99 would too at my air-flow level.
I've spent a lot of time on my tune, and I'm pretty "dead on" with fuel and spark, so I would just be transferring my tune over anyway.
IF, there's no real benefit on a SD tune, I could sure get back on the road quicker going back with a 98
Thanks for the reply
