Default PO343 Help

I am getting the PO343 Cam Position sensor voltage high code and after cleaning all my grounds and checking all the wiring I need advice on which direction to go next. I did a search and from what I found it seems that these sensors usually do not go bad. It seems that the cam sprocket bolts become loose do to gm not using loctite.

I had a cam package installed 7 months ago at a very reputable shop so I believe that they would torque to spec and use loctite on the bolts. That being said what should I do now?

Should I try to replace the sensor myself?
Should I send it back to the shop and let them check the bolts?
If it is the bolts, should I have to pay out of my pocket?

I'm planning on calling the shop tomorrow to see what they say but wanted to get some advice before I do. Thanks in advance!

Most often, it's the bolts coming loose. Mistakes happen. I wouldn't hesitate to take it back. Problem is that you're going to have to trust them. If they take the car apart and say it was something else, I'd be worried that you're going to get charged.

If it ends up being the sensor I don't mind paying for that but what could they say is the issue that wasn't covered under their complete cam package? I'm worried that they will check the bolts free of charge but then try to say my motor is toast or something like that and then try to get more money out of me. Of course I dont think these guys are like that but I'm just thinking worst case scenario.

Is the car hard to start or does it fire right up? My car intermittently set the 0343 code but never had any starting issues. In my case, it wasn't the bolts, it was the sensor. The sensor is pretty easy to change if you're comfortable pulling off the intake manifold.

Yes it is hard to start since the code popped up. Everytime I clear the code it pops right back up. I ordered a new sensor from gm parts house over a week ago and they just now sent it!! So I called advanceauto and I will have my new sensor today. I pulled the manifold last night and cleaned everything up and taped off the intake ports so nothing will fall in there. I did find a big vacuum leak on the little hose behind the intake. I hope it is the sensor because I spoke with the shop that installed my cam and they said they don't warranty race parts and the best they could do is meet me half way on the price to check the bolts which half their price is the regular price at other shops.
