Can someone explain what this all is?

I cannot get traction to save my life. Im wondering if the previous owner, when he had it tuned, did anything with this and how much of an effect it can have on things.

May not apply in your case, but until I changed the tires from the Goodyears (previous owner kept it garaged a lot/minimal driving so tires probably old) I could not get anything to the pavement in first or second. What a difference the new tires made.

New tires are softer.

From what I remember seeing Tq management is a minor limitation that helps you take off better. Tuners can remove it

TQ mangement is used several ways----
It is used by the Traction control system to limit TQ to prevent tire spin at ANY time (when on)
It is also used at gearshifts to REDUCE TQ to let the trans ease into the shifts more softly--general idea here is to lengthen trans life
Most all tuners eliminate ALL the TQ management at the "gearshifts" this gives you crisper firmer shifts to a point--At each shift the TQ mgmt system removes apprx 25% of the TQ via throttle control or spark timing-Kills momentum as your engine has to regain the TQ back--This takes time---just milliseconds sometimes but enough to make the car lazy--
The Traction Control uses the TQ mangement to reduce or eliminate tire spinning--anytime--Again via throttle control or spark timing--This is an entirely different set of tables and is completely separate from the gearshift TQ reduction
In stock trim---You should never just fry the tires--it may chirp them slightly---regaurdless of your engine's RWHP !!! If you are frying the tires with the TC button ON--someone has messed with the TC tables
TC is your friend !!!!! trust me !! It is a great safety device especially on a wet road or hitting gravel or oily spot on the road---I don't care if you're Mario Andretti--once you lose the back end of a C5 you aren't gonna catch it !!! many people mistakenly set the MAX TQ limit to read the Max #----This is incorrect---The MAX TQ limit of 350 ft lbs is the MAX TQ when the button is ON---If you alter this # the tires wil always spin--regaurless if the Button is on/off--- When the TC button is OFF there is NO TQ limit--So it's meaningless to change the MAX TQ limit to get more power---Just turn it OFF !!!

Very good info indeed. Nice

lol. sounds like someone did some tampering then.

All i get is wheel spin, even though i have about 400rwhp. at my AutoX my instructor (who used to own a z06) couldnt believe how i didnt get any grip even with TC on. He thought I had it off!

Will any decent tuner be able to fix this for me?

Are you road course racing or Drag Racing. I like to drag race, so I tune my off, and pickup some drag tires, but be carefully, the rear ends in the c5 are week?

YES any tuner can look at your TQ management tables and correct them if they are out of whack----ALSO if you have the time-Just get a mail order tune and talk to them on the phone and they can correct it as well--Many great mail order vendors on the forum---

I had the pS2's on my car when I first got it and they would go up in smoke real easy, and my car was stock when I got it no tuning has been done yet. Also they seem to get worse as they wear so if your down pretty far that could be your issue.
Now if I could just find a tire that don't spin like mad with Tc on and or get over 10k miles I will be happy.
