Just to let you know how GM is tuning these PCMs. As it's been said before these is little to no power increase from tuning with LS1-Edit in a near stock condition on 02 cars.
Cerra Racing in Rock Island, IL did (or attempted) to do the tuning. When we pulled a 332hp and 347tq fiest time on the dyno I was very happy. Now to tune it and get 10-15hp more I'd be real happy......
Well; after over a DOZEN dyno runs there was just no power to be found. Tried everything....only to have detonation.
And just for the record Bob at Cerra Racing really knows his stuff on the LS1-Edit. It was just that my car came tuned from the factory quite well.
Not going to do more to the car as it runs extremely well now.
I dont think there is much to gain by tuning a pretty stock car unless it is running rich for some reason like headers, cai etc. The stock tuning on this car is pretty agressive, especially timing, but it was way rich after the I threw the headers on it. I only picked up around 8-9rwhp by taking my a/f from 11.5 to around 12.8. Still 8 or 9 horsepower between different days plus a torqe converter change isnt a good comparison. Plus the first time I dynod it was 98 degrees out with a 1.07 correction and last time it was 80 degrees with a 1.03 correction. With that many numbers involved its hard to compare - at least for me anyhow :)
Even if there there was no horsepower to be gained on an A4 car LS1 edit is a blessing. The gas mileage inspired, part throttle shift points on these cars is horrible. After tweaking shift points I actually enjoy driving the car now. I figure it costs the same as a HPP3 and a MAFT and does way more so its worth it :)
I wish I could have made 332rwhp, took me a set of headers to get there
My a/f was at 12.5 and we played around with it until it was about 13. Really no difference in HP. So....just put it back to stock.
For you diehards we could have picked up 5hp or so but she would have been on the ragged edge of extreme tuning. I'd rather have the car in a more conservative tune.
I didn't waste the LS1-Edit altogether, though.
CAGS was killed, fans turn on sooner, idle speed increased, TQ management increased, rev limit increased, top speed limiter removed, and changed tire size were all done with LS1-Edit.
The speed limiter was set at 160mph so we increased it to 255mph. Never know when I'm gonna meet up with you boys!
Something interesting I learned and you guys may be interested.....the tire size was not EXACT.
In other words, the Goodyear Eagle RS-As have an exact 25.7 tire diameter. My stock program was at 25.78. So I set it to 25.7 and figure my speedometer is "calibrated" perfectly to my tire size.
At Carlisle I had BBP do my '01, I then took it to the dyno and it showed only a very small gain over the dyno test that was done in the spring. However, with all the other changes made, a/f, shift points, etc. it runs totally differnt, better and more enjoyable.

Re: No power increase with LS1-Edit (TAL)
It's the 01-02s that GM cleaned up the programming. Not much can be gained with today's cars with nearly stock cars.
On a totally stock car the gains will probably be minimal at best. The best I would hope for on a totally stock car would be enhanced drivability by killing CAGS and controlling the fans. Maybe you could lean out PE vs RPM a bit and get a few more HP. Once you start to make some mods LS1Edit starts to make a lot more sense.
