I know some like and some hate the Hypertech but that's not the issue here. All I wanted to do was lower the cooling temp and tighten up the shift points. Anyway...
Ran the HPP and made the settings I wanted. Took the car out for a test drive and it was ok, but only went 50% on the shift and wanted to go 100% for a test. So back to the garage and went through the steps and bumped it up to 100%.
After that completed, went to go for a test drive (it was night time) the dashboard lights didn't work and it said "Service Traction System" and the Security light stayed on.
Back to the garage and went to restore the stock settings. Went to start the engine and it stalls right out every time. Tells me Low Fuel even though the tank is almost full. Also keeps blinking to Service Tire Pressure Mon's and engine. :cry
So right now and I am resetting it again to stock. In the meantime, to calm my nervousness, anyone else run into this and have some suggestions? If all else fails, is there another way to reset this puppy?
Re: Hypertech Help - Something went wrong (78Vette-SA)
Make sure you clear all the codes in the DIC before you install your factory tune or performance tune. Clear all codes and re-flash the stock program. If you load up the HPP programm do the same thing clear all the codes. Hold the options button and hitt the fuel button 5 times. That will allow you to see if you have codes. If so hold the reset button down to clear. That may help

Whew!!! It just finished restoring and everything is working fine again. This was before I got your reply.
That's real good info though, thanks. I ran the manual diags anyway and there is a number of things that comes up like:
10 - 1 Code
XX - 2 codes
XX - 1 code
XX - 3 codes
If these are past codes, how do you actually reset them and should I bother? I do have the Service Manuals (1 and 2, not three for the engine so don't know if this info is in 1 or 2). I'll have to take a look.
Re: Hypertech Help - Something went wrong (78Vette-SA)
If they are past codes they will have a "H" next to them. I would clear them. Just hold the reset button once you get to the code. I have they Predator and it sets off codes everytime you flash. You have to clear all codes between flashes or eventually something will get screwed up. I am assuming the HPP does the same thing since they do similar things.
Re: Hypertech Help - Something went wrong (sandyg)
The codes you get are not active codes. They are set in the pcm when you flash a corvette's pcm, you have to reset the processors and with the vette GM lets you clear them your self via: gauges.. and that resets them. If you disconnect the battery then you have alot more to reset.
Re: Hypertech Help - Something went wrong (ProTuner)
Since I received mine Friday, I've programed my 98 4 times. Yes it will throw codes, but if you clear them before and after reprogramming, everything seems to be ok.Just firming up the shifts and raising shift points has given me a solid .1 decrease in 0-60 times. Will try the performance program as soon as I verify what type gas I am using.
My performance experience with a Hypertech has been really good. Also, whenever I program, I jumper in a spare battery I have. I end up with the same voltage, but twice the current capacity. The car seems to really like that during the programming cycle. No problems at all. The programming did stall once when I was using a single battery, never when using two.
