This has been talked about a few times on the mailing list, some have no problem others aren't so lucky. Are you using a true serial port or USB adapter? Maybe an XP user will chime in here...
no problems here. I recently purchased a new Dell Inspiron laptop with XP on it. I had no problems transferring all my Edit stuff onto it from old laptop. Works great. What kind of problems you having (what feedback you getting, if any, when trying to read PCM)? Did you have your Edit working fine on another laptop/system/OS? you say you cannot read your PCM. does that mean Edit will go through all the motions to include the 10 minute upload, but you have no file when done? Or, you cannot read the upload using the LS1_Edit program (used for editing the tune)?
I dont have a true serial port, Im trying to use an addapter. I am able to establish a connection with the PCM, but it will not communicate. I noticed the minimum processor requirement speed is 200 MHZ. Mine runs at 1.8 GHZ. I lowered the buffering speed all the way, but could this be too much???
Success with adapters is a mixed bag. People seem to have pretty good luck generally with the Keyspans I think. I use a Keyspan USA-19 for both AutoTap and LS1-Edit with no problem. Another option is a PCCard/PCMCIA serial adapter.
