hi does anyone know if you program the shift points on wide open do you also have to change the down shift points also a4 with 342 rear
Yes. You can program the upshift (speed and RPM) and downshift speed and RPM) for each gear. Ideally, your set your max upshift points ~500 RPM below the rev limiter.
Ideally they can match You can have the 1-2 WOT upshift at 39 and then the 2-1 WOT downshift at 39 as well
But on the Upshift it will always shift at the WOT RPM set point regardless of what the upshift at WOT speed is The ECM must hit BOTH parameters to command a shift in any WOT shift
If you set the WOT UP and DOWN speeds too high-- the ECM will not shift but hit the Rev limiter Just trying to show its not that simple
i see what you mean i am trying to get as much info on trans shifting as i can , i had 2 tuners program the trans which was reman. by aamco to match the 342 gears and have the same problem of the rev limiter cutting in wot 1-2 2-3 shifts and 650.00 later, trying to get them to reprogram isnt working to good . i was going to see about hp tuners to see if i can understand the process on tuning i really dont want to break something

OK so if you car came with STOCK 2.73 gears and you installed a 3,42 rear end you must
LOWER the WOT up and down speeds by 25%-------
IF you had 315 gears and installed a 3.42 rear end then you must lower the WOT up/down speeds by 9%---
Also if you have different rear tire heights than stock that also must be taken into consideration again by percentages
If you stock tire height was 26" and now they are 27 " then you must also take that % into the shift at WOT speeds (typically these aren't that troublesome
But the gear ratio change If you had 2.73 and now 3.42's that is at a huge 25 % change and you will hit the "safety rev limiter and it will not shift at WOT
