Fill Her Up......High Test
Here we go.....I realize our C5's have a duel gas tank. Does anyone know how they fill up? Does one fill before the other? Do they fill at the same time? When do I add my additive? Every once in a while I like to add a bottle of fuel injector cleaner to my gas. One time I poured in the additive before I put the gas in. My gas needle took a long time to go from empty to full. So now I add the additive after I fill up. Question is, where is it going? Does more of it go into one side than the other? I would like to distribute the additive equally between the two tanks. So what do you think ? :grouphug:
I've used a lot of gas additive (like 104) in Corvettes, and I just don't think it's worth it. It trashes the plugs and oxygen sensors (I've SEEN it). The best solution is to find yourself a local supplier of racing fuel, like Union 76 100 unleaded, add about 3 gallons per tank, and the car really wakes up without any fouling problems. It's expensive (about $7 per gallon), but maybe not much more than additive, but it's definitely better. I don't know exactly how it fills with dual tanks, but it's been no problem for me. Pour it in and hang on.
The driver side fills first, then the passenger. However, once the car is running, the pump equalizes and mixes the 2 tanks. I would just dump it in before the fuel, imho.
