I have heard rumors of the MAFT settings getting learned out by the PCM trying to correct for the changed made by it. This theory seems sound since the PE VS: RPM table is not edited directly I could see the PCM trying to richen the mixture up if I had leaned it out with the MAFT. The only thing that I can see that would keep it from being able to do this would be the lockout of the LTFT's during PE mode. Taking that into consideration is it only the non-WOT setting that can get learned out?

I had the same concern. If all I was doing to my car was trying to richen it up a lot in an otherwise totally stock set-up, I think you may be right. The feedback system will see too rich and compensate for it. But in my case, I have added a Blackwing, Volant air bridge/power duct and Breathless MAF ends. The theory is that my MAF is now giving an air flow signal that is probably below actual. Therefore, all I am doing with the MAFT is trying to give the car a more correct air flow signal to start with.
Presumably, the car could correct itself (within limits and over time) for this supposed "too low" air flow signal, but I think this is probably a better way to go for the small investment of an MAFT.
Part throttle (BASE) changes by a MAFT get learned out. However, WOT changes do not because the 02 sensor values at WOT are not used by the PCM to make any changes during PE/WOT mode.
