Are there any chip advise for brand new vette owner, 2002 with Borla exaust and K&N filter. I know nothing about chips - any general advise.
Thanks. :withstupid:
There are quite a few pieces out there. Jet makes an inline "chip." Hypertech, DiabloSport and, I believe, Jet make "power programers" that modify timing/fuel curves for a few more horsepower. If you car is stock and will stay mostly so, DiabloSport is probably your best bet. Check with James (forum name RWTD) after doing a search on the Predator (DiabloSport). Good luck and welcome.

For your car there are no "chips". The PCM can be flashed however to make the performance alterations you seek. It can be done with a handheld programmer (predator, hypertech, etc) or you can have it done at a local speed shop. (Or through a vendor here on the board or elsewhere if you go to the trouble of removing the PCM).
A local speed shop with experience using a computer program called "LS1 edit", can alter parameters in your car's computer to increase it's performance. As mentioned before, many of the "same" alterations can be made by a do it yourselfer using one of the hand held programmers or even a personal copy of LS1 edit loaded into a laptop PC. The handhelds are usuually not as versatile as the computer program LS1 edit. The handhelds typically use a generic "performance program" which itself can be tweaked and works good for many, myself included (I use the Predator) But LS1 edit is generally thought to offer the most flexability. The Predator allows you to return your car back to the stock programming at any time you should need to.
LS1 edit however requires some experience in auto tuning to use and one can seriously screw up if they don't know the program very well. Altering the parameters in your PCM through any means, "can" be dangerous to the survivability of your engine, transmission, etc so I highly urge you to read as much as you can about LS1 PCM programming before you do anything however, search the archives here. LS1 tech is also a good site as are the other LS1 sites.
