I am curious as to the total timing you guys are at? By that I mean in the main spark advance table in the bottom right hand corner which to my knowledge is the a piece of info the pcm uses to set the timing at wot.BTW I am aware that more is not neccessarily better(a rare occasion in life)but I am currently up to 32 with no knock but has not been track or dyno"ed to quantify any real improvement other than I got to 32 degrees by adding 3 degrees to the entire chart. Not rocket science but improved bottom end thru sotp considerably but as I said no track test because no track open.So if everyone would chime in and add there experience as to to how and why they got to the t.t. they have I think everyone would benefit.thanks
Btw I now have ls1 edit and it has been a blast to work with(had experience with tunercat's programming for 3rd gen. cars.
You can not tell for sure where your timing is unless you data log from a scanner. Simply put your timing comes the high octane table but other tables; load conditions, knock retard, ECT, IAT etc affect total timing. So best to record a wot run through all gears then analyze the results to see where in the HOT (high octane table) your true timing is coming from. I have added 6* of timing to my HOT from .6gms/cyl to .76 gms/cyl at 4800 rpm and up to achieve 28*- 29* of total timing at wot when my ECT is above 170*F, IAT is 14*F to 86*F and no KR is present. I have also added 2* to the midrange rpm. There has been no evidence that I have seen to indicate to me that timing above 29* is beneficial to a street modded H/C car like mine. Especially with only 92 gas available. These are my opinions only. :chevy
Thanks goodhand.I agree and have done the wot piece to varify where timing is at that particular load and rpm just curious as to has anyone else possibly seen a difference with a little more timing or even less timing
