C1226 - Does anyone have experience with this code?
Hi folks,
My 02 Vert has been repeating this code:
C1226
The code list I have defines it as:
C1226 RF Excessive Wheel Speed Variation
When the code comes up I get "Service Traction Control" and "Service ABS" messages from the DIC.
Someone in another thread mentioned this code occured for them once when they spun the tires and got wheel hop. The first time I experienced this code was after a hard acceleration through a right turn from a stop, so I figured maybe that had caused the code. But today it came back up during very subdued driving, though again while taking a right turn from a stop.
I assume the "RF" means "right-front" wheel. But I'm not sure what exactly is wrong.
I'll be taking her into the dealer on Friday to have it checked, but since the car is under warranty and the problem is intermittent, I'm already doubting I'll have much luck. But I'm a pessimist that way.
Before I go in, can any of you give me a better idea of what this code means and what could be wrong? The more knowledge I have before going to the dealer, the better I'll feel about it.

It happened to me, went to dealer the sensor harness was loose on right front wheel assembly...from when new shocks were put in..Dealer stated if the problem continued..it could be the sensor and it is $750 for the unit plus install. So hopefully it is just loose.
