Whats an SDM Code?
I have asked this question before and received no answer. Well another SDM Code has poped up and I can't find anything in the code reference about SDM and what it means... Argh... Its a B1001 Any help is appreciated!

SDM= "Sensing Diagnostic Module" and although I don't know alot about it ( next to nothing really 
) I can say that it's basically the black box everyone talkes about. It records different sensors 5 seconds prior to airbag deployment. B1001 is a configuration error and I have no idea where to start fixing that one. Hope this helps.

I can not find the 58-SDM codes on any list. I have 4 right now.

Howdy!
From what I understand the SDM is like the "router" in the data stream that moves through the C5 (since the data/comm is multiplexed).
Anyway, if it loses comm from any subsystem for a certain period, it will generate DTC's - here's a list of the SDM DTC's I have:
U1016 Loss of Communications with PCM
U1040 Loss of Communication with TCS
U1056 Loss of Communications with RTD
U1064 Lose of Communications with DCM
U1128 Loss of Communications with radio
U1153 Loss of Communications with HVAC
U1160 Loss of Communications with LDCM
U1161 Loss of Communications with DCM
U1166 Loss of Communications with SCM
U1176 Loss of Communications with RFA
U1255 Serial Data Line malfunction
I know the U0164 is a very common error, where the body controller loses comm for whatever reason and it gets logged.
I actually get a ton of these errors when I plug/unplug my Window Valet...though I don't think they're a cause for alarm in most cases.
