Default HP Tuners

I just received my HPTuners edit and scanner. I made some adjustments and it works great. I also did some scans, at WOT my car only pulls 18 to 19 degrees of timing. My knock factor goes up every time I go WOT which pulls timing. I believe my car is running on the low octain table exclusively. I need to figure out how to tune timing. The good thing about HPT is I was able to download my LS1edit pcm and edit it so I did not have to start over.

I'm still learning, but I copied my high octane spark table to the low octane table. This allows me to KNOW what my timing is, and that it's not going into the low octane table. After I'm done, I'll knock off >4 degrees off the entire low octane table. How are your LTFTs?

Most of the time, my ltrms are -5 to -6. Does that mean I am running rich or lean?

leaftye, am I reading you right you just copied the table over long enough to get your tuning done then you're gonna return it? I would have a low octane table there to act as a safety net.
cscollis, the Lterms you'll want to look at are the load cell Lterms 6-14. You want all those to be slightly negative. Negative cells means the computer doesn't dump extra fuel when you go to WOT. So when logging you want cells 6-14 to be negative and cell 22 to go to zero at WOT. How much knock are you getting? and give your car "learn" time between adjustments. I put ~50 miles on mine at least to see where it settles at.

I don't want the safety net fooling me when I'm tuning. I'm scanning and logging right after writing to the PCM, so if there any KR, I'm watching it. I wouldn't return the low octane table until modifying it to match the changes I made to the high octane table.

Most people aim for -2 for their LTFTs. Don't forget to reset the LTFTs from inside HPTuners after writing to the PCM.

Means you're running rich. Slightly rich is safer for the motor. When you start doing PE tuning with a wide band o2 sensor, you'll aim for slightly lean to get max power.

Thanks for the info. The funny thing is my there is almost no knock but my timing on WOT passes is 19 to 20. The most knock I get is 1.9 to .X from 4000-6400 and most ranges are 0. Does the knock learn number need to be 1 to get full timing? Right now mine is .41 and climbs with every pass. I am guessing that the higher the number, the more timing is pulled.
