Active Handling working?

Active Handling working?
I bought a used 1998 ragtop two years ago and have never seen any Active Handling warm up lamps or heard any brake pad or pump noise when cornering. The indicators properly display Traction Control off and Competitive Driving mode when the Active Handling button is appropriately activated. This may be the dumb question of the day, but could Active Handling not be functioning even though no warning lights or codes are displayed?!
