i have a 2001 coupe with a vararam intake and borla 2 tip stingers installed
the only thing else ill probably do to it is put an x-pipe if even that in the performance category
would it be worth my while to get it tuned and what kind of performance results can i expect to get as far as hp or et is concerned
the results will depend on how far off the tune will be once you get everything installed. if your a/f ratio is at 13.0:1 where most tuners will tell you is best, then you might not get very much out of a tune. but, if it's running rich, say 11.8:1 as my 00 formy was, you'll see a gain. and i'll start off. i'll try my best to not let this turn into a edit vs handheld debate either. doesn't matter how you get the tune done, your just asking if it'll help.
anyways, i gained .2 and 1.4 mph with the VHP handheld. only mod at that time was just the SLP airlid. this was back to back track runs. about 10 minutes apart. this awas using the hiperf/stock cam +10% timing adjustment. along with shift firmess and shift point change. car is the 00 formula auto with 3.23 gears.
then my friend with his 99 TA M6 3,42 gears gained a half second on his doing a tune on it at the track as well. his mods are SLP Loud-mouth, o/r y-pipe, LS6 Intake Manifold, Ram Air Intake, Spec Stage II clutch, K&N air filter, dynotech headers, SLP air lid, Sportlines. B&M Ripper shifter, SLP strut bar, Hand Tuner from Vinci Motorsports, and nitto's
